Dan Chassie, owner of Goodwood Plastic Products, demonstrates the flexibility of a two-by-three-inch plastic board he produces at his plant on Commo Road in Fort Ellis, Colchester County. – Francis Campbell
Dan Chassie is chairman of the board, the durable plastic board.
“You use the plastic lumber the same way you would use wood,” Chassie said at his facility in Fort Ellis, Colchester County, that surrounds him with more than a handful of buildings and bales and bales of used plastics.
“You can saw it the same, you can drill it the same. You can use screws, nails, bolts (to fasten it). You can glue it.”
But the big difference compared with wood is “there’s no deterioration,” said Chassie, who is stepping away from his Halifax C&D Recycling operation in Goodwood to run the fledgling Goodwood Plastic Products.
